The amount of possibilities can be overwhelming when you’re when putting together a ceremony and reception, but it’s also quite a thrill at the same time. When my daughter was going to be a bride, the most difficult part of helping her out was getting her to decide on something. The initial decision was just the overall genre of the wedding: something old-fashioned, or a trendier style of ceremony. My poor daughter examined every option for the type of wedding she would have, and she was unable to select one that was right for her. Some of the options she kicked around were doing a gardening theme or a sand and surf theme. After all the debating, she ended up with the traditional. With that decision finally out of the way, we were able to start planning.
The church was reserved, and so was the reception hall, and all of the invitations had been sent out. She had her gown and the wedding party attire was all taken care of, so mostly what we had to concentrate on now, was the reception supplies and decorations. In addition to finding a wedding guest book and a picture album, there were some other things that we had to pick out yet. Finally we were down to the cake topper, place card holders and wedding favors. Everything else was taken care of. A couple of doves formed out of glazed porcelain were what my daughter selected to put at the top of her wedding cake. Those doves will make an outstanding piece for her to treasure forever. Every guest got a place card holder at the reception that was silver and in the shape of a picture frame. The people at the reception would be able to use the frames once the dinner was over, and my daughter thought that was a something they’d like. After looking at all of the items she selected for her ceremony and reception, I’d say she did a pretty good job of it. The extra cash she was able to hang on to by finding good deals is going to get spent when they go on the honeymoon.
It was a beautiful wedding, and the reception looked fantastic. When the bride and groom did their first dance, it was a stunningly beautiful moment. We all did a lot of dancing that night, and I swear my feet still hurt, but it was all worth it, it was a wonderful event that I will remember forever. My little girl was now a wife and would someday be a mother, maybe with a daughter of her own. Well, when that day comes, I know exactly where I’ll go to get the supplies and shower favors for the baby shower I’ll throw.
